Dr Jeppiaar founded the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (A Christian Minority Institution) formerly known as Sathyabama Engineering College in 1987. It is a leading institute of architecture, research, technology and education awareness. Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology has been awarded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India as Category "A" University and accredited by NAAC with Class "A" in 2017, certified with DNV-GL ISO 9001 standard and providing exemplary education from the last 29 years.

On 22 June 2016, The University wrote a special page in the history of space exploration with the launch of "SATHYABAMASAT" in collaboration with ISRO. One example is the launch of "SATHYABAMASAT" and accolades received on world platforms.
