Approved by AICTE, Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) was set-up in 1949 by Shri Chinnaswami Rajam as the first self-financing Engineering institute in the country and later merged with and affiliated to Anna University. The Institute has been accredited Grade ‘A’ by The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This is one of the four Autonomous Constituent Colleges (University Departments) of Anna University. MIT has produced great scientists like Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam in the past.
