Overview

Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT) was established in the year 1998 as an affiliated institution under the University of Madras. Later it was affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. In 2004, the institution attained the status of a university under the ambit of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (VMRF) – Deemed to be University Salem under sec.3 of UGC act 1956.AVIT is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Council of Architecture (COA), Govt of India.

The college was established with a vision to impart technical education focusing on development of the society. The institute has signed Memorandum of understanding with many foreign universities such as Naresuan University, Thailand, Edinburgh Napier University, UK and Arkansas State University, USA for teaching and research collaboration. Apart from this AVIT has collaborated with Oakland University, USA for Semester Abroad Programme.

Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT), Chennai courses include B.Tech and M.Tech programs in many disciplines. The college also offers a full-time MBA program. The university has implemented a Structured Choice-based Credit System (SCBCS) for all programs and embraced Outcome-based Education (OBE). The college has incorporated Research-based Learning, Skill-based Learning in Learning and Teaching process. 

AVIT, Chennai has established Eleven Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the field of Alternate fuels, Intel IOT, Nano Technology and Renewable Energy Technology. The college also has an excellent research facility in the field of Bio-fuels, Communication System, Renewable Energy and Bio-Technology.  Education at AVIT, Chennai encourage the students to do research under the guidance of teachers and experts. Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT) campus has a large number of labs and classrooms that are equipped with modern teaching aids. In addition to the computer facilities connected to each department, the institution has a central computer facility. The college has well stocked library with reference books, DVD library, adequate textbooks, e-learning facility and DVD library. Students who are coming from far locations may choose the hostel facility available at the campus itself.
